Albany, N.Y. – The national Council of State Retail Associations (CSRA) will have a New York executive as its leader for the next year. James R. Sherin, president and chief executive officer of the Retail Council of New York State, has been elected chairman of the national association, which supports retail association executives and the retail industry across the United States.
Forty-nine states have an association that represents merchants much like the Retail Council of New York State does in New York. CSRA is a forum for state retail association executives to exchange information and ideas, particularly on state and federal legislative issues affecting the retail industry. In addition, CSRA facilitates discussion and analysis of state association management operations and programs.
“CSRA allows retail association executives to learn from each other to create more proactive, successful business associations that benefit merchants back home. I’m proud to take a leadership role in CSRA and give back to my association colleagues who have given me so much over the years,” said Mr. Sherin.
Mr. Sherin was elected CSRA chairman at the association’s annual meeting in August in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. For more information about the Council of State Retail Associations visit www.councilsra.com. James Sherin’s biography can be found at www.retailcouncilnys.com.
