Retail Council of New York State hires consultants to advise members on labor issues (July 5, 2006)

Albany, N.Y. – Members of the Retail Council of New York State no longer need to pay attorney fees for answers to labor questions. Instead, they can turn to Labor & Monitoring Consultants (LMC), recently retained by the Retail Council, for answers to their personnel and labor standards questions. This service will be provided to Retail Council members at no additional cost.

LMC will advise Retail Council members on labor standards issues regulated by New York State and the United States Department of Labor. In addition to answering questions, LMC will provide Retail Council members with expert tips on how to cost-effectively comply with current regulations by contributing articles to the Council’s newsletter.

“The Council routinely gets calls from members on labor law issues,” said Retail Council President and Chief Executive Officer James R. Sherin. “It’s these calls that prompted us to find a way to be of assistance in this often complicated and confusing component of running a business. We’re pleased to now offer our members two of the most experienced and respected professionals in the labor standards field.”

LMC president, Richard J. Polsinello, is uniquely familiar with labor law compliance issues in New York State. He was employed by the New York State Department of Labor for 36 years, and served more than 15 years as the director of its Division of Labor Standards.

Mr. Polsinello founded, and is a leader of, the Interstate Labor Standards Association, which gives him great insight into other states’ labor laws and much access nationwide to labor law practices in the retail sector.

Retail Council members will also have access to Dorianne Beyer, Esq., LMC’s senior vice president. Ms. Beyer has been a national and international labor standards expert for more than 25 years offering technical assistance, training programs and policy guidance to clients such as Burger King International, the U.S. Army and the United Nations. She has a wide and deep knowledge of federal compliance issues and U.S. Department of Labor policies and procedures.

“Labor issues can absorb a tremendous amount of a business owner or manager’s time,” said Mr. Polsinello. “LMC is here to help Retail Council members manage their workforce and comply with the many laws and regulations in the most cost-effective way possible. We’ll answer members’ labor questions so they can spend their time addressing other business needs.”
