The Retail Council was first

incorporated in 1931 by a group of New York retailers looking to combine interests and leverage strengths. Today, the Council is New York’s largest full-service, statewide retail trade association.

With headquarters just one block from New York’s Capitol and legislative offices, the Council serves the needs of merchants, professionals and other providers of goods and services across the state. Our members range in size from sole proprietor businesses to national retail chains.

The Council’s diverse line of programs and services help our members save time and money. Whether you are looking for a better credit/debit card processing program or check services, stronger insurance protection or top-notch state government representation and more, the Retail Council can help.
