The New York State Society of Opticians is now endorsing the Retail Council of New York State’s money-saving workers’ compensation insurance, statutory disability insurance and credit card processing programs. NYSSO members are encouraged to consider these new member benefits (and the great savings that accompany them!) through the Retail Council.

The Retail Council offers among the lowest costs on workers’ compensation and disability insurances in New York State. And with opticians’ typically high average ticket, our credit card processing program is likely to provide great savings too. Workers' Compensation Insurance

Since 1978 the Retail Council has been helping our eligible members lower their workers’ compensation insurance costs by returning a portion of their premium in the form of annual dividend payments. Although dividends cannot be guaranteed, we have averaged a return of 39% over the past 30 years!

We declared a 37.5% dividend for policy year 2008 and returned more than $4.2 million to eligible Safety Group members.

In addition to potential dividend savings, eligible participants** in our Safety Group receive an up-front policy discount of up to 20% and a low New York State Assessment of 6.3% in 2010 (other carriers will charge 14.2% NYS Assessment).
